As the Opening ceremonies of the summer olympics in China draws near, I feel an update on the horrific events that are taking place in Darfur is needed. The United Nations(Un-United), along with every human rights organizationon on the planet have classified what is taking place there as a Genicide. In case some of you are not aware what that means here is Websters dictionary description. Genocide-the systematic killing of a WHOLE population. That desciption gives you a picture of what is taking place but, that picture was taken with a wide-angle lens. Let me zoom in a bit. Those killed might just be the lucky ones! The atrocities suffered by the ones not killed covers the whole gambit. Tens of thousands of women and young girls(some as young 8)have been raped. Not by one individaul but, gang raped by as many as forty men! I have other words befitting them other then "Men". They are then usually marked, facial gashes or an ear cut off, so they won't rape them again. They will most assuredly contract STDs and those "men" still clean don't want to take any chances. Their homes and villiages are burned to the ground, doesn't take much to burn a home and a school made of twigs. The well, if the town was lucky enough to have one, is poisoned. Anything of value is taken, usually the only valuable possessions they have is live stock needed to feed themselves. After the men and boys (fathers and brothers)are forced to watch the rapes, they are beaten savagily in front of thier mothers, wives and sisters. Then slaughterd and left to rot in the desert sun! Those left alive, if thats what you could call them, stagger far out into the desert to join 2,500,000 (yes 2.5 million) others that have sufferd the same. The conditions at the refugee camps are deplorable! No shade, no water, no food and NO MERCY! The nearest water source is a three hour walk; each way. They send only the youngest because others who are older, 8 and up, will risk being raped or killed. Now, after you hopefully have an image that will stay with for awhile(unfortunately we have gotten very good at erasing any images that might make us "uncomfortable") . These events are not a recent developement, not even remotly! This systematic murdering, raping and pillaging has gone on now for almost five yrs. There have been over 400,000 thousand murders and as I mentioned tens of thousand of gang rapes. Humianitarian organizations have met harsh resistence when they try to intervene. Some themselves face violence and dozens have all ready been killed. The 2.5 million refugees now face the dangers of diseases and starvation. There are a few reasons why I brought up the opening ceremonies of this summers olympics. First, and most shocking is the fact that this years host is doing the killing! No, They are not personally pulling the triggers but, by suppling the triggers and knowing exactly what they are being used for, they are just as quilty! Hitler and Manson didn't actually pull any triggers either. And secondly, the roots of this evil(like most today) are being nurished by Satens Blood(oil)! China is selling it's soul to feed it's monsterious energy demands. They have been trading weapons for oil with the Sudanees government since the killings began. Our wonderful President has accepted a private invatation to sit with the Chinese Premier, who he himself should be charged with crimes against humanity, By accepting the invitation, Bush, is condoning the actions. China is not just quilty in Darfur, they are also funding the violence in Nigeria(google Nigerian Delta) It's origins are also soaked in oil and commiting violence in Tibet and Miramar. So, when the world comes together to participate and watch the opening ceremonies, celebrating the unity of nations, there will be a couple of corners of that unity that needs our help! www.SaveDarfur.org or info@savedarfur.com

It is a little off-topic, when one considers that within this same country people are dying ...
Wonder what it means?
Hugggggggggz,

I thought the UN was formed to bring order, justice, and peace to the world. Why doesn't the rest of the world take action against the perpetrators of these atrocities? By our inaction, we are accessories to the crimes committed.
right on -- I couldn't have said it any better myself!
