Everyone is upset and complaining about the price of gas and the effect it is having on them. As prices at the pumps rise so does the cost of everything else, so you are "getting it" at both ends. Yet, we have only ourselves to blame and the Government that you elected is doing NOTHING to correct the problem.
The winfall tax credit that the oil co. recieve on top of the windfall profits comes directly out of your pocket! And a recent attempt in congress to do away with it was struck down in a vote. The great friend of America, that we've all been led to believe, Saudi Arabia is the richest country in the world and produces over 40% of all oil used today. We were "told" that Bush and Cheney made seperate requests for them to increase thier output, which would in turn lower the prices. They denied both requests! But, today the Saudis have notified the world that they will help us all by increasing production by a WHOPPING 200,000 barrels. YEH! Not so fast.
The truth is that the world uses around 90 million barrels a day! The increase that they so jenerously agreed to, amounts to nothing more than a "drop in the barrel"! It will have absolutly no effect on prices and the Saudies know that! What they have realized is that the demand is SO high now that they can add that amount to the current market, and increase their profits at the same time give the image they are helping. This increase was calculated to the drop as to how much they can increase production while maintianing enough demand to keep prices rising!

The future is ours to make... hopefully we will survive the present we've made. SATURDAY AND SUNDAY this weekend, Anderson Cooper and Dr. Sanja Guta(CNN) are doing a piece on infectious diseases and what the future has in store for us.
