The future is being written now...How it will read in the future is up to you.

We are on the cusp of historic Global changes. Changes that will have profound effects on all life that calls Earth home. In what
direction those changes take us will be up to each and every one of us.

We must now take the gift that separates us from all other life; free
will, and use it by choosing to unite. Together we can pull the mighty sword from the stone of indifference and use it to slay the demon that has taken residence in our hearts. Slowly choking the life out of each one one us. Little by little as it has grown, unchallenged. It has resticted the blood flow to our brains. Blood, necessary to nourish our soul and allow us to reason, think, feel and act.

With the might of a united people welded together, there is NOTHING WE can not accomplish! We are limited only in our imagination of what can be.

NOW OR NEVER - Mankind is one step from a precipice, one that will allow us ONLY two options. Will we soar to new heights, rising above the dark clouds of greed, deceit and hatred, to emerge renewed and strenthend. Or, will we fall into oblivion, taking the planet and all life with us?

I believe that we were given this gift of, "freewill", for just this very moment in time. It is up to each of us individually to "choose" to unit as one force able to overcome all. WE MUST USE IT OR LOSE IT!

Looking for work?

A Japanese doctor said, 'Medicine in my country is so advanced that we can take a kidney out of one man, put it in another, and have him looking for work in six weeks.'

A German doctor said, 'That's nothing, we can take a lung out of one person, put it in another, and have him looking for work in four weeks.'

A British doctor said, 'In my country, medicine is so advanced that we can take half of a heart out of one person, put it in another, and have them both looking for work in two weeks.'

A Texas doctor, not to be outdone said, 'You guys are way behind. We took a man with no brains out of Texas, put him in the White House and now half the country is looking for work.

Why did Bush cross the road? The same reason we went to war with Iraq.... because Dick Cheney told him too!

The Post Turtle: While suturing a cut on the hand of a 75-year old Texas rancher, whose hand was caught in a gate while working cattle, the doctor struck up a conversation with the old man.

Eventually the topic got around to former Texas Governor, George W. Bush and his elevation to the White House.

The old Texan said, "Well, ya know, Bush is a 'post turtle'."

Not being familiar with the term, the doctor asked him what a 'post turtle' was.

The old rancher said, "When you're driving down a country road and you come across a fence post with a turtle balanced on top, that's a post turtle."

The old man saw a puzzled look on the doctor's face, so he continued to explain, "You know he didn't get there by himself, he doesn't belong there, he doesn't know what to do while he's up there, and you just want to help the dumb shit get down.

Give Bush an inch and he thinks he is a ruler! Give him a foot and it will find its way into his mouth, joining his other one!

When Bush was asked his opinion on Roe vs Wade, He said, "he didn't care how people got out of New Orleans after Katrina?"

Unlike the CNN special "Planet in Peril", which I personally thought was just a superficial look at all the problems that exsist with climate change. Frontline hit the jackpot with their Special Investigation on PBS, "HEAT - Cooking our planet". I was very pleased with how thorough and non-partisian the documentary on Global warming was.

 

 It depicted, with clearity, honesty and in language that anyone could understand, the reality of the situation and the dire consequences we will suffer if this isn't addressed NOW! It covered most of the current data and gave a very concise look at the complexity of the forces driving it. It could have spent a little more time detailing the concept of "cap and trade" and the use of carbon offsets to slow down the amount of carbon emitted and then given an update as to where we are with that today. I believe that this is the most plausible and promising of all the possible solutions. It has a chance, not because humans have a desire to protect the future and a "Free" willingness to make the tough sacrifices that will be necessary. It has promise because it will be "fueled" by greed, the primary reasons we find ourselves here in the first place. Greed got us in and greed can get us out, now is not the time to not to be greedy!

 

 The ability for money to made by reducing ones carbon footprint will spur research and innovation, invention and implimintation. It is truely sad that we won't have any chance of a future unless someone can profit. I feel horrible for the children of those who control the industries that have created this den of iniquity. How do they face them each day knowing they are profiting off of the sale of their future?  Their future that is now seriously in question.

 

 We must use what we have learned, and what we continue to teach others, to understand the effects of what we do and how we live! Remember being taught "EVERY ACTION HAS A REACTION"? Then why do we continue to rumble forward as if what we do today wont have any impact tomorrow? There has also been an alarming new discovery, new enough that this documentary was to late in the making to cover it, of a "very old" process that is now a real concern. As our planet warms, the surface warms along with the water and air. The areas of the Earth covered in permafrost, a permenately frozen area circling the globe, running as much as 1000 miles south of the magnetic north pole, is melting at an alarming rate. Global warming is acting as a catalyst releasing billions of tons of methane, also a green house gas, that has been "trapped and capped" by Mother Nature. The methane, is derived from the decomposition of plant matter over billions and billions of years. The scary fact is that 1 methane molecule has the negitive impact of 10 carbon atoms! As this takes place and the methane hits the atmosphere, we will see an extremely rapid increase in temps. over a very short period of time. Setting off a cataclysm.

 

The problem is exacerbated by the methane given off by cows and other cattle. If we are to attempt a "capture cap and store" system, (I am not for it) we should look VERY closely at how Mother Nature did it because, she was successfull. It would have stayed harmlessly buried for another billion years had "WE" not come along and decided to uncap it! We have already alterd out planet in so many negitive ways, I just do not understand it! I still have HOPE, waning as it may be, but hope. Hope that we will take responsibility for our actions and come together as a whole to get us out of the hole. We have caused the problems and we can correct them. We need to act now, right this very minute, all of us! Yes YOU AND I.... before it is too late! Don't wait for our Politicians, world leaders, or somebody else to come and take you by the hand and lead. Our Planet is suffering and needs our help. She has taken care of all of us, just as any mother would. Now our mother needs us! If you did not get a chance to watch it, it will be aired again Friday oct. 24 at 9pm est on PBS. WATCH IT! It put the CNN special "Planet in Peril" to shame.

Tuesday Oct. 21 at 9pm est time PBS station "HEAT" Cooking our planet. PLEASE WATCH! IF YOU MISSED THIS IT WILL AIR AGAIN FRIDAY OCT 24 AT 9PM It was very well done and well worth watching. These facts NEED to be taken seriously!

The last two posts I wrote in "Cosmic Painter", which primarily is reserved for environmental issues, could have been posted here in this section. Which I try and reserve for Politics, economy, finance, oil and war, all basically monetary issues. But, the comingling of all aspects of human life will continue as the lines seperating them become less defined.
